The
arrest, detention and trial of Nnamdi Kanu cannot stop the struggle for Biafra.
Th[e current struggle is rooted in Igbo ideology and beliefs. Nnamdi just extrapolated on that ideology
geared with the current feeling of ‘marginalisation’ of the former Eastern
region, and make his followers act. The ideology is rooted on Chukwu Abiama,
the Igbo supreme God which some have argued as a metaphor of Ubini Ukpabi (The
Long Juju) of Arochukwu (Remember, the British has to destroy this shrine
before the Igbo conquest was successful).
He
has rebranded and extrapolated this ideology, and equates him with the Jewish
Yahweh. His Chukwuabiamism has woken the Igbo consciousness and has helped to
unite them to act as a unit. This awoken collective unconscious is what is
doing the magic of his struggle together with the assumed
‘marginalisation.’ Any policy that harms
them reaffirms his struggle.
Many
may not understand how ideology works. Let’s start from the Jews, their
collective unconscious was woken by Moses according to their Torah and they
believed that they were (are) a superior race that would (will) exterminate the
Canaanites, the original inhabitants of the land because they were (are) chosen
by Yahweh. Didn’t they do that? Ideology at work?
The
Arabian consciousness was woken by Mohamed, look at what the Islamic
consciousness has done to the world. They captured Constantinople and renamed it Istanbul and
that has been its name till date. They invaded Africa and took Egypt and they
populate the Northern part of Africa, intermarry with the Moors (blacks) and
have coloureds everywhere there. They even conquered Portugal, Spain, etc. The
power of ideology!
The
Romans took Judaism and extrapolate it to Christianity and used it as a tool;
they used it to control their vast empire.
The fallen united West came to Africa with their re-packaged religion
and conquered our mind.
The
Old Oyo Empire followed suit and used Sango as a tool to hold their political
hegemony on the Yoruba people.
Why
do you think a Fulani man kills people (kafirs) and feels that he does no
wrong? He believes in the Northern hegemony of Usman-Dan-Fodio and his radical
Islamic ideology!
Nnamdi
Kanu knows these things that is why he rebranded the Chukwuabiama and
extrapolate it to Yahweh! And it has been working the magic.
The
moment you diffuse Chukwuabiamaism from his Biafra struggle and perceive
marginalisation, the struggle would be dead. People must believe in one thing
which unites them before they can act as one. Biafra is his nation and
Chukuwuabiama is the ideology.
A
struggle devoid of ideology is dead at its conception. USSR failed because the
USA succeeded in killing their communist ideology which they termed utopia. The
introduction perestroika and glasnost by the USSR which is much more western
than Russian was the key to their disintegration!
The
attempt by the West to rebrand Islam has led to what the WEST termed Islamic
terrorism. Ideology at work?
Moreover,
I don’t support Kanu, neither am I his follower but his style is doing the
magic. I don’t even want Nigeria to
break. I shared a philosophy that a restructured Nigeria based on fiscal
federalism will do us more good than harm in the commonwealth of Nigeria. I
also believe that Kanu’s struggle might make the government to consider that as
an option.
A
restructured Nigeria with option to secede will kill the Biafran ideology.
Moreover Biafra could as well be realised in the Nigerian context. It works in UK
(Scotland, England, Wales and Ireland), it is working in US and Ethiopia, and
can work as well in Nigeria.
